The hospital stay

At the hospital there was a lot of napping and cuddling done by mommy and Molly. (that epidural is good stuff ha ha!! it would make me drowsy every time I took an extra "hit") It was great to have quite so many friends and family visit while in the hospital. (yet another perk of me working at the same hospital I delivered at)

Daddy was able to get in some good cuddle time as well.

Molly is a GREAT eater! She really enjoys her bottle Yum Yum! Once the meal is over though it is right back to dreamland for this little princess. Samuel started to warm up a little more to her and would actually give her a couple of kisses (when prompted) I think it was more for the praise and attention that he got for doing it than his actual "love" for his new little sister ha! He also had a hard time bonding with me while I was in the hospital as well. I don't think he liked seeing his mommy in bed with the oxygen mask and IV tubing when he saw me just before delivery. He has refused to give me hugs, kisses or attention these days at the hospital. (makes me sad--- though I know he will get over it)
A rare time with her eyes wide open and alert...

After taking several pictures of the baby (with and without Sam) Samuel asked Kirk to take his picture right there!! It was pretty funny. he is so used to being the focus of the camera lens... I think he thinks this "sharing thing" is for the birds ha

Miss Molly has arrived

Announcing the arrival of:
MOLLY ELIZABETH

The day started well, just a little anxious about the epidural (ouch) BUT gotta tell you, it was well worth it for pain control after the c-section!
Here she is, she made her entrance into this world at 10:52 am. She started crying right away (what a wonderful sound to hear when you can't see anything)
This big girl weighed in at a whopping 6 pounds 13 ounces! (no one guessed her to be this small... Sam was 8 pounds 11.5 ounces) 19 1/2 inches long
here is the proud papa--- and pretty happy mama as well
Mom and Molly in recovery room

Sam, well he wasn't quite sure what was going on. He got a new matchbox truck from ma and pa in the waiting room-- any time we mentioned the baby or his sister he would tell us (and show us) that he had a new truck. He was curious and looked at her, but then decided that he wanted nothing to do with her.
She was really into sucking her thumb. She started this in the OR right after delivery. It did not matter which one she had, but was very content when it was in her mouth!Check out that HAIR!!! this baby has HAIR! Guess she already knew that little bows were in her future!

Young Love

So, Hanna came over to play last week. Samuel has decided that "pushing" is a fun thing, but is learning that he will get into trouble when he pushed Hanna. He was told to apologize to Hanna. Apparently the word "sorry" is very difficult for a 2 year old to say. (amazing that they can already comprehend that sorry means something!!) Hanna must have felt his agony since it was so hard for him to say and he tried everything else he could think of without saying it, that she just puckered up and kissed him. So very sweet!! I believe they both got a kick out of it. I had to pull the camera out and this is what I got when I said "Sam say you are sorry and give Hanna a kiss." They then kissed a couple of times... I had to say "ok kiddos, that is enough!!!!" If this is the way they behave at 2 what will they be like at 15? Guess we are gonna have to watch out for those two! Oh yeah, for those of you who want to know... Sam did finally apologize - (it was even loud enough for all to hear!) Then again, if a cute little girl was kissing you wouldn't you say I am sorry as well?

Happy #5! (belated)

Happy Anniversary Kirk!!!!

Wow! Amazing. What a whirl wind these past 5 years have been. It was a beautiful day in May 2003 that we wed , committing our lives together before God, our friends and family. It was like a dream come true. God had delivered my knight in shining armour to me. I just have a hard time believing it has already been 5 whole years! I am so blessed to have you as my husband and to have you as the father of our children. I am looking forward to the next 5-15-20 etc years!! Can't wait to see what the future holds for us.

Bluebonnets in the Spring

About a month ago we were able to take Hanna and Sam to the fields to get some shots of the kids in the wild flowers. Unfortunately, there were not an abundance of Blue bonnets as hoped for, but I guess it really didn't matter. Samuel was much more interested in running through the field than sitting in a clump of flowers. I took about 50 pictures that day (thank goodness for digital cameras!) and the majority of them are of Sam's back. He sprints faster than the camera can snatch a picture.
It was pretty sweet though as Samuel kept "picking" the flowers (and tall grass) and giving them to Hanna. He does have a tender little heart, well for a moment at least, then he likes to tackle or push her out of the way.

Baby showers

Wow! I have to say that I am truly blessed to have such wonderful friends. My Bunco pals threw me a baby shower last month. What a surprise! I got so many fun and adorable little outfits for Pru-Pru. I sure wish I had a camera that night. I don't have any pictures of the fun shower. Then the ladies from my Bible study also threw a surprise shower for baby girl! I never expected these showers-- especially since this is our 2nd child. I just want to thank everyone again for all of your thoughtfulness and all the great things you gave us for this baby to be! This little girl is going to be all decked out that is for sure!
here are just a couple of pictures from the Bible study shower... Thanks Faye for bringing a camera along!

the chapstick incident

I received this in my email a couple of days ago. It struck me as very funny. I'm not sure if it is all that funny or if it is that I can totally imagine Samuel doing something so sweet and innocent (not to mention disgusting) as this!!

So, we had this great cat named Jack and the kids would carry
him around and nothing ever bothered him. He used to hang out
and nap all day long on this mat in our bathroom.

Well we have 3 kids and at the time of this story they were 4
years old, 3 years old and 1 year old. The middle one is Eli.
Eli really loves chapstick. LOVES it. He kept asking to use my
chapstick and then losing it. So finally one day I showed him
where in the bathroom I keep my chapstick and how he could use
it whenever he wanted to but he needed to put it right back in
the drawer when he was done.

Last year on Mother's Day, we were having the typical rush
around and try to get ready for Church with everyone crying and
carrying on. My two boys are fighting over the toy in the
cereal box. I am trying to nurse my little one at the same time
I am putting on my make-up. Everything is a mess and everyone
has long forgotten that this is a wonderful day to honor me and
the amazing job that is motherhood.

We finally have the older one and the baby loaded in the car and
I am looking for Eli. I have searched everywhere and I finally
round the corner to go into the bathroom. And there was Eli.

He was applying my chapstick very carefully to Jack's...
rear end. Eli looked right into my eyes and said "chapped."

Now if you have a cat, you know that he is right--their little
butts do look pretty chapped. And, frankly, Jack didn't seem to
mind.

And the only question to really ask at that point was whether it
was the 1st time Eli had done that to the cat's behind or the
hundredth.

And THAT is my favorite Mother's Day moment ever because it
reminds us that no matter how hard we try to civilize these
glorious little creatures, there will always be that day when
you realize they've been using your chapstick on the cat's butt.

Happy Mothers Day

I am FINALLY back. It has been busy around here and for some reason by the time evening came and it was computer time I just did not have the energy or desire to blog. Hopefully I will be able to be back for a while. There are so many things that have been going on it is hard to know where to start. Guess I will go all the way back to Mother's Day.

Mother's Day. It is still hard to believe that I am actually a mother. I am so honored and blessed to have such a son as Samuel. I am really looking forward to being a mom to this new little miracle inside my belly as well. I only hope that I can be half the mother to these little ones as my mom was/is to me. I had such an awesome example of what a mom is, she rose the standard very high! She has worn so many hats throughout the years and for this I am so grateful! Thanks for being my mom, mom!

Kirk and Samuel treated me to a wonderful pedicure for mother's day. It was so nice and relaxing. I guess they felt sorry for me since I can no longer reach my feet ha! This is the view of my newly painted toes that I see:
This is the view I see when I step. ahhh, how nice!! Thanks guys! It was a perfect gift!

You should have seen the other guy...

my poor little pumpkin. As we are transitioning to the new "BIG BOY" room and bed Samuel and I have been spending time playing in his new room so that he is more comfortable in it. So, while I was putting his clothes in his new closet, he was jumping and rolling around on the BIG queen sized bed, misjudged the edge and fell right off. I saw the fall and felt like I leapt in slow motion. Unfortunately though, I was unable to catch him and he plowed face first onto a plastic dump truck. He now has quite a shiner and very swollen eye. I attempted to ice it down after it happened, but Sam insisted on holding it himself, then when he realized that there was ice in there he was a lot more interested in eating the ice than placing it on his eye.

It seemed the swelling increased AFTER nap time, I didn't get a picture of that.

I HATE Vista

Need I say more? I LOVE my nice new light weight laptop. When I first got it I though really, can vista be as bad as everyone has said? YES, and then some! Poor Kirk, he has had to work so hard at applying and uninstalling and reinstalling and using all of the "if this doesn't work try this " methods to get things to run smoothly. Who knew it would be such an ordeal just to have internet and a printer? UGH may you never have to buy a computer with vista! Sorry for no posts lately, just haven't full capability. Hopefully we are just about there!

Planting seeds

Samuel and his friend Hanna "helped" us plant seeds last week. They enjoyed playing in the dirt and moving the dirt from the big pot to the little ones, but we lost all of their attention when it was time to plant the actual seeds. We are really excited to see that the sunflowers have popped through, but no sign of the tomatoes as of yet (Hanna's are all sprouted) Sometimes Sam gets a little over zealous when he helps me water and I wonder if maybe the seeds were washed away?!?

I am how old?

I have been receiving emails to inform me about the upcoming 20 year high school reunion. Yes, I said 20 year reunion. Wow it is so hard to believe that I should be ready to celebrate such a milestone. I am 36 years old, I know, 36 is old, but it did not sink in as to just how old until you say next year we will be celebrating our 20 year high school reunion! The more I thought about it the older I felt. I thought about those who had children while we were in high school or shortly there after... they would have children in college now--- COLLEGE! Here I am about ready to have a baby and fellow classmates of mine have college students. YIKES!!!!

kerplunk

Well, I have not actually fallen off the planet, my precious companion (the computer) decided it had lived a good, long life and needed to go. We just bought a new computer, I like it a lot, but am still getting used to it and my sweet husband is still working on the setting up and replacing all of my old files. He has worked hard trying to save everything prior to the big kerplunk and then all the research of what kind of computer I should get (I am clueless) Thanks honey for all of your hard work, time, and energy!

the "dack dacks"

While in Ok we were able to visit the lake and see the ducks. (they had a cold snap so it was too cold to go near the water) Samuel is fascinated with all sorts of animals and really enjoyed being able to be up close and personal with the "dack dacks" (he still won't call them by name but loves to make their sound- quack quack) There were all sorts of ducks there, wouldn't you know it was the funny-looking ugly one that was the one that came right up to him for the cracker?
